Interneck folds in on itself

Bear with me. It takes some ‘splaining.

So, I use Flickr. A lot. I’ve been a Flickr member since 2004 and before that I was a Game Neverending player.

This May, I read a great article in the NYT about singer-songwriter Jonathan Coulton and his use of the internet to grow his audience and sell music. It was interesting enough that I went out and looked this Coulton guy up and listened to (and eventually bought) some of his music. He’s great, by the way. I’m now a big fan.

Anyway, Jonathan has a song called “Flickr” – two great tastes that taste great together! I’ve been enjoying the song thoroughly for seven or so months now.

This week, Flickr opened up a statistics option to pro members. ‘Course, I turned that option on and checked out my stats. Lo and behold – is linking to one of my photos! I checked out the referral. It’s a blog post in which Jonathan publishes a little video he did to accompany the song “Flickr” – featuring the Flickr photos that appear in the song.

Dude. One of the photos from my Flickr account is in the video! If you wait until the end you can see the url (someone has also posted the urls for all the photos in the comments section of the JC post). Thumbs up for Slurpees! I think the internet has now folded in on itself. At least in my little corner of the web.

I shall now go and giggle to myself incessantly.
