Update: Day Somethingorother

Just a quick update to say that all is well on the Bad Carbs Be Gone plan. I’d say that we are successful at banishing 80-90% of the bad carbs that we were eating just a few weeks ago. Maybe we will even take the toaster oven off the counter (yay more counter space!!) in recognition of the fact that we have not used it in at least 3 weeks. Poor toaster oven. It is bereft of toast.

We are still allowing ourselves to give in to the occasional craving for noodles or bread – just so we don’t find the whole diet change an impossible burden. Every now and then a girl needs a french fry, people. We are also learning to plan a little better for meals – if you can’t fall back on pasta and sauce, then you need to be prepared to make something else easy and healthier for dinner. Our new grill pan has helped immensely in this regard.

Anyway, just an update. Post-lunch food comas have been alleviated. Pounds have been lost. Clothes are fitting better. We soldier on. If I reach my goal weight (no, I’m not telling you what it is), I want this as a reward.

And you look AWESOME. It really shows.
I’ve been eating pasta, bread, & pretzels & gee…I still can’t lose weight!
    Duh.

Hey, just send that toaster over here. I love toast. I’m a toast monster.

You know, a diet alternative to losing weight is to do what I did and go to Guatemala. If you get the dreaded traveler’s disease the first day (oh, joy) and then proceed to spend the rest of your time hiking up volcanos and 30-story Mayan ruins anyway, by the end of your trip your pants will be falling down around your ankles.

Hmmmm, maybe I should write a diet book….
