Why tempt fate?

brando.jpgI tend to adopt any superstitions I hear from people and make them my own. I will not ‘split a pole’ and walk on, for instance, one side of a parking meter while others walk around the other side, I will not place a hat on a bed, and I will absolutely not pick up a penny that is tails side up (rather, I will kick it and hope it lands heads-up for the next, more fortunate, passer-by). I avoid, although I have flown on Friday the 13th. When things seem off-kilter in my life, or if those around me seem to be acting strangely, I believe the sight of a full-moon is a reasonable explanation for these occurrences (this also comes from hearing The Bryn Mawr College Society of Werewolves once a month howling…) Perhaps the full-moon around now explains why I have witnesssed two car accidents in as many days…

So my superstition begs me to tell you all ‘Beware the Ides of March!’ The Ides are the 15th day in March, May, July, and October; the 13th in the other months…but it The Ides of March is the one which brings with it a sense of foreboding…if there is something you’ve been wanting to do, somewhere you have been wanting to fly, please, just wait until Thursday…
