As You Wish

Awesome news for fans of Adam Guettel and William Goldman. A musical version of “The Princess Bride” is in the works! Guettel, for those of you not up on your contemporary musical theater, is the composer/lyricist for a number of exciting and innovative works, including Floyd Collins, Saturn Returns, and, most recently, The Light in the Piazza (for which he won the 2005 Tony for Best Orchestration and Original Score). He also happens to be the godson of Arthur Laurents, the grandson of Richard Rodgers, and the son of Mary Rodgers. His work is consistently complex and melodic.

William Goldman, of course, wrote “The Princess Bride” (one of the funniest books around). He also wrote the screenplays for “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” “All the President’s Men,” and “Marathon Man.”

People, this could be good.
