It’s hot out. Hot and muggy and gross. Nothing productive can happen without great effort, which I do not care to expend. I am told by Betsy that she is being productive enough for two and I can just slack off. Sadly, I must continue on as I am planning to be out of the office at the end of next week. Yes, I have decided to return to Michigan this year.

I was not going to go. I was going to sit in air-conditioning, sipping a cold beverage and making liberal use of the indoor plumbing and private shower available in my apartment. Maybe I was going to make an appointment at the spa for a mani-pedi or a massage. Maybe I would spend the weekend on the couch, listening to Men’s Music and playing XBox. So many plans.

But this is the 30th anniversary of the MichiganWomyn’s Music Festival. And the performance schedule is pretty great. And we’re doing a blitz visit – in on Friday, out on Sunday. Not as much to haul, not as many awkward group showers to endure, not as much time between concerts wondering why in heck we’ve decided to pay too much money to sit in the dirt in a not-very-pretty-part of Michigan and eat 40-bean salad at every meal. Oy. But the company will be great, it will be nice to get away from the city for a few days, and I love the music. We have already been to Costco to buy beef jerky, and we already have most of the camping gear necessary for this little trip. So, we’re off to live in filth. 3rd annual trip to the MWMF is a go. Expect photos and blogging upon our return.

Of course, we’ve got to get through Market Days first. Fruit is playing, y’all! They’re super-fantastic.
