Apple?

Dad's name = Bruce. Mom = Blythe. Brother = Jake. Grandfather = BusterApple rainbow

I will reiterate my question: Apple?

Now I’m all for well-thought out names for children (and pets!). Should I be lucky enough to have children or be able to have a pet someday (which does not make me sneeze), you can bet their names will be well-thought out. I’ve always been happy with my name (though the schoolyards of America are now dripping with ‘Courtneys’), but in the 1970’s, it was a rather unique name and I always thought the name suited me. Except for the brief period in 1973 when my sister and I announced we wanted to be ‘Barbara and Brenda’, I have never fought my name.

But I read this morning that Gwyneth Paltrow and husband Chris Martin (Coldplay’s lead man) have named their daughter Apple Blythe Alison Martin. Is this an allegiance to the MacIntosh? I mean, I would definitely place Gwyneth in the anti-Windows camp, but one need not name their daughter as a sign of support. I’m sure this will be asked about the next time Gwyneth is on The Ellen DeGeneres show.

Any ideas in the meantime? I know CNN.com is perplexed, as the headline was not: ‘Paltrow and Coldplay Husband Welcome Baby Girl’ but, rather: ‘Paltrow Picks Apple as New Baby’s Name’
