All that the Metro Let In

Just returned from The Metro, Amy Ray’s favorite venue AND site of Studio X…an intimate performance from this site’s favorite group: The Indigo Girls! WXRT hosted the gig in The Metro’s top floor 70-seat performance room.

The Girls played six songs—Perfect World…Fill it Up Again…Yield…All That We Let In…Heartache…Galileo. I have the set list if you’d like to see it. : )

The acoustics were awesome and, by the way, Emily looks great! (And, of course, the perpetual shout out to AmyRayAmyRayAmyRay…)

Terri Hemmert from WXRT asked if either would consider running for president…the Girls said they would consider it and Amy promised to raise taxes and reminded the crowd that our taxes are actually quite low compared to other nations. (And, as Amy says, she pays A LOT of taxes!)

As one of the ‘rabid’ fans present, I’m grateful for the Indigo Girls and that they’ve never let their success detour the mission tantamount to their music: political and social activism. The fact that they would choose to do a multiple city small-venue tour at this point in their popularity when they can easily sell out the Chicago Theatre and are doing two nights at Radio City Music Hall is just another reason to love them and why I’ll cry if they ever announce that they’re done touring.

Listen for the show on WXRT’s Live from the Archives series.

Hey, sounds like a nice gig. I wish I was there.

It was awesome! I wish the lighting had been better since it was so dark in the room that you couldn’t really see Amy very well. The sound was excellent, however, and the girls were their usual thoughtful, upbeat, appreciative selves. Can’t wait to see them in St. Louis!

Sigh. I miss “Aunt Terri,” as we used to call her (for reasons that completely escape me now).
I used to go to those swell, smalll gigs she’d host around town. Sigh. I miss my Chicaga!
The Indigos will be in my town on March 4, wee-haw.
