All That We Let In

Amy Ray Amy Ray Amy Ray. Oh yeah. And Emily Saliers...

Hey, y’all. Just a shout-out from the staff at Mirandala.org to remind our small-but-loyal readership about a few new music releases. We think you’ll like ’em!

Indigo Girls: All That We Let In. This is the Girls’ last album on their contract with Epic Records. Great melodies and harmonies, fantastic guitar work, really singable lyrics – everything we’ve come to expect from this talented duo. Check out ‘Fill It Up Again,’ ‘Dairy Queen,’ and ‘Cordova’ for some particularly outstanding tracks.

Melissa Etheridge: Lucky. Melissa has found L-U-V in the person of one Tammy Lynn Michaels (seen recently on The L Word as a baby-dyke stalker) and she’s all with the upbeat happy happy on the new album. That’s definitely a change from her last release, titled Skin, which really should have been titled “Julie Cypher, You Is a Beeyatch.” Early review of ‘Lucky’ from Betsy, our intrepid reporter in the field: “Whoa! Melissa is totally rockin’ out!”

Courtney Love: America’s Sweetheart. Now that her arrest warrant has been dismissed, Courtney can finally relax a little and enjoy the release of her newest album. And, I ask you – who can resist lyrics like “Baby, you’re a freakshow just like me/Baby, we’re all born ugly/Gotta write a love song” or “Shut up!/I’m about to tell you about the difference you will never make/How to win the war with no regrets, no hurt no pain no shame/Shut up!” Sigh. Courtney Love rocks my world.

Those three albums, my friends, make a serious Ladies Trifecta.

But we’re not done yet! Let’s make it one more for my baby and one more for the road:

Garrison Starr: Airstreams & Satellites. Girlfriend’s new album was recently featured on CMT.com – which is kind of edgy for CMT, y’all. I don’t know if I’d call her music “country” – well, maybe in a in a Lucinda/Kasey kind of way – but whatever it is, it’s fun, independent, and original. You’ll definitely be hearing more about Garrison Starr.

Emmylou Harris: Stumble Into Grace. Haven’t heard this one yet – but Emmylou gets better and better every year, so I’m sure it’ll be great.
