she lives in my soul, drinks of my wine

Sometime I'll write a post exposing my theory about the existence of Mr. Madrigal...

You know what would warm up a cold day?

A story about Mrs. Madrigal!

Miranda, any recent anecdotes?

Why, Courtney, funny you should ask! You know, right after you dropped me off last night – around 11:30pm – I came into the foyer of the house, the light at the top of the stairs came on immediately, and I heard that familiar, Selma-Simpson-esque voice waft down to me…

“Miranda! Do you have any wine?”

“Why, yes, I do,” I answered.

“Oh, honey, can I buy a bottle from you?”

So I retrieved a bottle of Cabernet from the pantry and walked it upstairs to Mrs. Madrigal, who looked at the label and exclaimed, “my favorite!” I didn’t have the heart to point out that apparently all bottles of wine are her favorite. Then I tried to just give her the wine, but she wouldn’t hear of it, so I sold it to her for $10. The bottle probably cost $18, but I figured the blog story was worth at least $8…

You see, Mrs. Madrigal went to the symphony with her sister last night, where she had a lovely time, but then she had to wait for the bus in the cold night air, so she really needed a glass (or two, or four) to warm up. At 11:35pm. On a Thursday.

Ah, Mrs. Madrigal. War breaks out, Bennifer breaks up, mad cows frolic through Canada…but you are always the same. And I’ll drink to that.

As a money-making venture, I say we buy a case of ultra-cheap red wine over the weekend, then start selling them to Mrs. Madrigal for $10/bottle.

You didn’t tell us if she closed the back gate last night—I was worried.

Dear Courtney – I believe that Mrs. Madrigal closed the back gate before she left for the symphony last night.

Can you keep a variety of beer and vodka around as well? I love knowing there’s always Miranda Liquors to fall back on! Such deep discounts as well!

Ah, but the discount only comes if I get a good story out of the transaction…
