Hi. Thanks for participating. As you see, this post was written over 6 years ago. It was a personal opinion about a TV show that I clearly liked enough to watch regularly. I appreciate your opinions, although I don't know that I appreciate the personal comments directed toward me. Again. TV show. Over 6 years ago.

But thanks for swinging by and caring enough about the show to chime in. Surely that's a testament to the show's impact.

I agree about Max. S/he is whiny and annoying. But I don't think s/he's a cardboard character. There are more people out there than you think who are overly sensitive to issues of their own gender.

I disagree about Shane. It's not because of her looks that people are attracted to her. It's more her personality and overall vibe. Maybe it's you who can't look past appearances. And I'd let Shane cut my hair any day.

I don't think Helena is a sociopath at all. Sure, when she first appeared there was a reason we disliked her, but that's what character development is for. We see Helena develop into a better person as the series goes on.

Tina and Max are annoying, yes. And so are Jenny, Max, and Bette. Therefore, your first point is moot. You said it's just a deluge of likeable characters when, in fact, there are so many characters to dislike. But that's what, in my opinion, makes it more compelling--how you love to hate them. It would be completely boring if it were an entire cast of perfectly agreeable people. Of course, I sometimes wish the characters I dislike would just go and kill themselves, but I also stick around for the characters I actually do like.

Dana died. Yes, it was sad. Yes, I wish she stayed on and didn't break up with Alice. But the fact is the actress had to leave. No sense whining about it. It was a practical matter.
